some guys start dreaming of a brand with an unmistakable design.

In a basement in Piazza Juvarra in Messina, a group of young aspiring artists founded the Cinzia Club. The name comes from their first commission, a goblet engraved with the name Cinzia. It is a club where they exchange ideas and mature their own design philosophy. In 1967 the first alvaro & correnti creations were thus born: a corner of the basement was converted into a workshop where with meager means and great improvisation the first castings of a long history were made.

Just back from a couple of years of Roman experience, the first alvaro & correnti store opens on via Ghibellina in Messina. the store is small enough to be nicknamed “almost a hole”

early works of classic imitation jewelry from the 1700s

In 1971 the company moved to larger space: it opened its store on via Ettore Lombardo Pellegrino; it would remain a leading boutique for alvaro & correnti goldsmithing until 2000.

The antiquarian style has become one of the stylistic landmarks of the maison. Greek and Roman influences, drawn from the Sicilian landscape and Roman experiences enrich the jewelry with a style that is still symbolic of the brand today.

From 1991 to 1992 a store opened in Vulcano, in the Aeolian archipelago. The store is initially run by Leila Correnti, the daughter of Alfredo Correnti.

Leila Correnti and Sanny Alvaro open Le Colonne store in Taormina, a little treasure chest of elegance on Corso Umberto 164.

New atelier with workshop opens in Via Ugo Bassi 61. The store is designed by architect Paolo Orlandoni with a large window that makes the place of jewelry production communicate directly with the place of design and sales.

In 2008 Alfredo Correnti buys all shares of the alvaro & correnti brand.

Since the 2000s with the launch of the EGO collection, personalized products with initials become emblematic of the house. The first works and the definition of the font date back to the 1970s, but the launch is a success. The font is designed by Alfredo Correnti, and each product is custom handcrafted.

Notable among the numerous exhibitions in 2008 is the participation in “the power of beauty” held in Mantua at Palazzo Te with the summa of the most important works of art of the Greek and Roman world from all over the world. Alvaro & correnti represents the only exhibition space intended for living artists, a symbol of how antiquarian style in jewelry is still of great impact.

With the exhibition “irons and gold” a goldsmith’s workshop with irons from the 18th-19th centuries, a collection belonging to Alfredo Correnti, is exhibited for the first time.

Carlo Correnti, Alfredo Correnti’s son, joins the workshop.

alvaro & correnti reinvents itself and becomes the maison alfredo correnti. The firm’s payoff, ieri e oro, is a tribute to the first catalog produced as well as to the entire previous history of the brand.
